Yes, if your pet is a cat. Z on Plymouth and Z on Coolidge accept cats for a $350 one-time pet fee plus $25 per month. We do not accept dogs at either community. That is the entire policy, and it goes in the first paragraph so nobody books a tour on a wrong assumption.

What is the pet policy, in full?

One-time pet fee$350$350
Monthly pet rent$25$25

The $350 is one time. The $25 is monthly, for the life of the tenancy. Both are separate from rent, from the $99 or $135 monthly utility fee, and from the $26 administrative fee.

Up to two cats are permitted per unit at both communities.

Ask that on your tour before you budget for a second cat. We are not going to guess at it here, and the figures below are stated for one cat.

What do these apartments give a cat owner?

Luxury vinyl plank flooring throughout. The one that matters most. LVP does not hold odor the way carpet does, it does not snag claws, and a spill or an accident wipes up instead of soaking in. Anyone who has lost a deposit to a carpet knows why this is first on the list.

In-unit, full-size washer and dryer. Every unit, both communities. Bedding and anything the cat has claimed goes straight in the wash.

A private deck or balcony. Every unit at Z on Plymouth has a private deck; Z on Coolidge units have a deck or balcony. Outdoor sitting is what most indoor cats actually want.

100% smoke-free. Both communities. A real air-quality difference for an animal that never leaves.

Units run 850 to 1,000 square feet in one- and two-bedroom layouts. Z on Plymouth has 80 units across two stories following a $2.5 million renovation of kitchens, flooring, and bathrooms, and has central air conditioning. Z on Coolidge is 24 units across four buildings under a mile from downtown, recently renovated top to bottom in 2026, with wall unit air conditioning. If you leave a cat home through a Michigan August, ask about that difference.

What does a cat cost you here?

ItemAmount
One-time pet fee, at move-in$350
Monthly pet rent$25
Pet rent across a 12-month lease$300
First-year total, pet charges only$650

Pet charges only, stated for one cat. That excludes rent, the monthly utility fee, the administrative fee, separately billed electric, the $65 non-refundable application fee per applicant, and the security deposit equal to one month's rent. The $1,000 holding deposit is credited toward your move-in costs rather than added to them. Full accounting in our move-in costs guide.

Starting rents at the time of writing were $1,499 for a one-bedroom and $1,699 for a two-bedroom. Check the Z on Plymouth availability page or the Z on Coolidge availability page for current pricing.

Renters insurance is required at both communities. Tell your carrier you have a cat when you buy the policy.

What if you have a dog?

We do not accept dogs. Not small dogs, not by breed, not with a larger deposit. If you have a dog we are not your building, and the honest thing is to say so now rather than after a $65 application fee.

It is worth knowing why Plymouth is a harder dog town than it looks, because it affects your search wherever you land.

Plymouth has no confirmed public dog park. Neither the City of Plymouth nor Plymouth Charter Township lists one. Some third-party directories claim a dog park at Plymouth Township Park. That is not confirmed by the Township, and we will not repeat it as fact.

The nearest verified public dog park is in Westland. The Wayne County Parks Dog Park at Hawthorne Ridge Park, 31844 Edward N. Hines Dr. Three acres, separate small-dog and large-dog areas, agility equipment, shelters. Registration is required at the Nankin Mills Interpretive Center, 33175 Ann Arbor Trail, Westland, with a current dog license plus rabies and distemper records. It costs $20 for Wayne County residents and $25 for non-residents.

Hawthorne Ridge sits on Hines Drive, the same 17.5-mile linear park that runs through Plymouth. Our Hines Park guide covers the corridor, including the honest version of the dog park situation.

What are the honest downsides of our policy?

Cats only is a real limitation. If your household might add a dog in two years, a lease here is a lease, not a plan.

$650 in year one is not nothing. Some communities charge a refundable pet deposit instead of a non-refundable fee. Ours is a fee plus monthly rent. Compare it against your other options rather than taking our word that it is fair.

No nearby dog park stays true whether or not you have a dog. It tells you something about the town's pet infrastructure. Plymouth is a strong small city for many reasons. Off-leash dog amenity is not one of them.

No pool, no garages, no carports. Unrelated to pets, but people ask.

Frequently asked questions

Do Z on Plymouth and Z on Coolidge allow dogs?

No. Both communities accept cats only. There is no dog exception by size, breed, or additional deposit. If you have a dog these are not the right buildings, and we would rather tell you before you pay a $65 application fee than after.

How much is the pet fee for a cat in Plymouth, MI?

At Z on Plymouth and Z on Coolidge the charge is a $350 one-time pet fee plus $25 per month. For one cat across a standard one-year lease that is $650 in total pet charges, separate from rent, the monthly utility fee, and the monthly administrative fee. Up to two cats are permitted per unit; confirm with the leasing office how the fee applies to a second cat.

Is the $350 pet fee refundable?

No. It is a one-time fee, not a pet deposit. Your security deposit, which equals one month's rent, is a separate amount and is fully refundable if the unit is returned in original condition, normal wear and tear excepted.

Does Plymouth, Michigan have a dog park?

Neither the City of Plymouth nor Plymouth Charter Township lists a public dog park. Directories claiming one at Plymouth Township Park are not confirmed by the Township. The nearest verified public dog park is the Wayne County Parks Dog Park at Hawthorne Ridge Park in Westland.

What makes an apartment good for a cat?

Hard flooring rather than carpet, because it does not hold odor or snag claws. In-unit laundry. Private outdoor space to watch from. A smoke-free building. All four are standard here: luxury vinyl plank throughout, full-size in-unit washers and dryers, private decks or balconies, and 100% smoke-free policies.

Do I need renters insurance if I have a cat?

Renters insurance is required at both communities regardless of pets. Tell your carrier you have a cat when you buy the policy, since animal-related liability is handled differently by different insurers.
